The Power of the Breath!

    Breathing, one of the bodies greatest weapons. Im not just talking about bad breath keeping everyone away… But in all seriousness, there are many different ways to breathe that immediately, and over time change your physiological state. Now, when I say breathing most people, especially in the Western world will think of two things, inhale and exhale. That is all we seem to know about breathing here in the U.S., it was all I knew as well. Thankfully, one day I came across someone talking about doing a simple box breath to help lower your heart rate and calm down. I was dealing with loads of stress and anxiety so I needed all the help I could get, so I gave it a shot. It worked. I was shocked, I had no faith that this would work but I was desperate and took a chance. A chance that, as it turns out, sent me on a journey that started in 2014 and will continue as long as I live. 

 

    Over time I have learned many different breathing practices that have great impact on many different factors in my life, such as; energy, stress, anxiety and depression, endurance, sinus issues, and so much more. I have struggled with nasal/sinus issues most of my life, and through certain breathing practices and some dietary changes, I have all but eliminated those problems. I believe everyone should be able to access these practices and techniques. Which is why I am putting together a library of resources and this site is the first step!

    Understanding the power of breath lead me to this thought: The most powerful mind altering substance, is not a drug, or a fungi, or a drink, it is Oxygen! There have been numerous studies done on various types of breathing, everything from hours long holotropic breathing, to something as short as the physiological sigh, that show the way manipulating your breath impacts your overall well being. The studies show, breathing can be natural pharmacology. You are capable of healing your mind, body, and spirit from within. Breath work is fundamental to our entire philosophy, practices, and beliefs. Breath work is the Ab Intra Way!

Wim Hof Breathing Method

This is my favorite breathing technique and the one I have used the longest on a consistent basis. Using the power of oxygenating the blood and breath retention this practice is among the most powerful!

Physiological Sigh

The physiological sigh is one of the most effective ways to reduce stress and off load built up Carbon Dioxide(CO2) in our bodies. In others words, this technique is like taking a shot of relaxation.

Box Breathing or Square Breathing

This technique is great for focus, relaxation, and calming the heart rate and increasing concentration in tense situations. This practices is so effective, the U.S. Navy Seals use it!
